Well, here we are! Well, most of us! This past weekend we met after the Emerge service to talk about everything from Passports and shots, the culture we will be in, and much, much more. Please keep us in prayer as we learn, grow and bond as a team. Thank you all for your love and support!

Has anyone in the team been to the Philippines before? You'll love the culture, though prepare yourselves for the shock of sticking out like really sore thumbs ;) I visited Dumaguete City last year, though not a mission trip per se. It was rather troubling the first time a begging child approached me because I didn't know what to do. Also, hearing "Hey, Joe!" the first time, although expected, was a bit unsettling. There are just certain things you have to get used to....and you will :)

The only immunization shots I received were hepatitis A and tetanus. Also, despite getting a prescription for anti-malarial pills I only took them for a week (instead of the recommended 6) and got eaten up by all kinds of tropical bugs. I itched all the way back to Tennessee, but no malaria ;) It's really only common in the "forbidden" Sulu archipelago, though I don't expect you are going there.

May you be blessed by the Filipino people...and I suspect you most definitely will :)
